Romans 14:17

When we believe what Jesus did for us on the cross of Calvary and appropriate it to our lives, by confessing Him as Lord and believing that He rose from the dead, we are immediately translated from the kingdom of this world into the kingdom of God. Thus, from that moment on, our life must be lived out according to the rules and constitution of that kingdom which is the word of almighty God: The Bible. We are to act, live, talk and think like a kingdom citizen. We are to be kingdom minded people. This means that everything we do revolves around how it is done in the kingdom of God. The Bible says we are in this world (that is the kingdom of darkness) but we are not of this world”, in other words, the word is saying  that although we live in this natural world we can still live out our life on this earth like a citizen of the kingdom of God. We are not to wait until we get to heaven to be kingdom minded people we are instructed to be kingdom minded people now on this earth. It is the will of God that we start living out the fullness of His word here and now. We are to apply to our lives spiritual and kingdom laws in God’s word that set into motion His will for our lives. The way God’s kingdom functions is different to how the kingdom of darkness functions. Many believers are trying to live for God as a kingdom citizen with the rules of this earthly natural kingdom and it just will not work. Mathew 6:33 says ”Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and  all these things shall be added unto you”, notice that for a citizen in the kingdom of God in order to have all his needs met he must seek to do things the kingdom’s way and be in right standing before the king. On the contrary the world, that is the kingdom of darkness seeks things and thus are never satisfied.
A kingdom minded person is a giver, a forgiver, joyful, peaceful, faithful, a blessing, an encourager, walks in authority, knows who they are in Christ etc.
The whole new testament is full of how a kingdom minded person is to live, Romans 14:17 gives us in a nut shell what the kingdom of God is like,  the word of God says the following “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but Righteousness and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit”.
The kingdom of God is not meat and drink that is it is not earthly focused, it is not bound by earthly limits.
Firstly the kingdom is Righteousness, that word means: Just, right standing, rectitude. This shows that a kingdom minded person knows that by the blood of Jesus he is righteous, not will be but he is.
Secondly the kingdom is peace, this word means: Prosperity, rest, harmony, health, welfare, good, happiness divine favour.
Thirdly the kingdom is joy, this word means: Cheerfulness, calm, delight, gladness, to enjoy etc.
As a kingdom citizen you have been given the go ahead to live like a kingdom citizen, to live righteous, live in peace and live full of joy.
God bless you. Amen.
