Resources Word Of Power Generosity
Our God is a generous God. You will never see in the Bible where God is trying to make things smaller or taking away. From Genesis to Revelation we see him, multiplying, increasing, expanding and blessing. When Jesus was on this earth we see him moving with generosity also. Remember when he multiplied the bread and the fish, he fed what is believed to be 20 thousand people, the miracle does not stop there the Bible says there was 12 baskets full left over. He did this to show that us that He is a generous God. In    Ephesians  3: 20 the word says “Now unto Him (Jesus) who is able to do exceeding, abundantly, above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us”.  This is the kind of God that we serve. Religion and      tradition has made God to be a God who takes away from you, is stingy, out to get you and not willing to bless etc, but the Bible says the total opposite, He is a generous God.
Philippians 4:19 says “But my God shall supply ALL your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”. Notice that the verse says He will supply ALL your need, not some, but ALL.
Now since our God is a generous God, and we are to imitate Him, then it is only normal that we His children be generous people. Christians should be the most generous people in the world, simply because we are on the
receiving end from a generous God. There is nothing worse than being stingy, tight, small minded, selfish etc, this creates a poverty mentality that is always looking for ways to avoid giving, to cut back, give the least possible or for someone else to do it for us etc.
The word generous  means the following: To be liberal in giving or sharing , to be unselfish, to be free from meanness or smallness of mind or character, to be large, abundant, to be open handed etc.
Just as the Bible shows us of a God who is generous it also teaches us from Genesis to revelation to be generous. The world system says you give me first then I will give, or if I can see it then I will get it. The Bible way, which is God’s way and the best way is to give first and then the spiritual law is: it shall be given unto you abundantly.
For an example let’s look at Luke 6:38 which says the following: “Give and it shall be given unto you good measure, pressed down and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the measure that you mete, withal it shall be measured to you again”. Notice that the first thing that must be done is to give, it is just one thing God asks us to do, be generous. Then there are 4 results from the giving, we shall receive 1. Good Measure 2. Pressed down 3. Shaken together 4. Running Over.
1 Corinthians 9:6 says ‘But this I say unto, He which sows sparingly shall reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully (generously) shall reap also bountifully (generously)’. The verse goes on to say “God loves a cheerful giver”.
Beloved brother and sister find ways to be generous, generosity is not just about giving financially, although that is what these verses are talking about, but you can be generous with a smile, shaking someone’s hand, with your kind words, your love, your forgiveness, going the extra mile for people etc.
Let’s be known as a people who are living the life of generosity and let’s look for opportunities to give liberally, knowing fully well that when we give generously we have a God in heaven who is watching and taking account, and will generously bless us beyond our own expectations. Amen.
