Mark 5:13-16You and I have been called to be influencers and whether we know it or not we are continually influencing people. A mother influences her children, a teacher influences students, an employer influences his employee, a boyfriend influences his girlfriend, a dad influences his son etc.
The bigger the responsibility and the more people depend on us, the more influence we have over them.
The word influence means the following: The capacity or power of a person or things to be a compelling force on and produceeffects on the actions, behaviour and opinions of others or another. It is to direct towards an action, instigate, persuade etc. It is of vital importance that we understand the consequences of our influence and also of those we allow to influence us. The way we influence others and are influenced by others is with words, attitude, conduct, lifestyle, convictions and beliefs.
Just as we influence people we also are exposed to being influenced by others. This is where we must practice spiritual discernment, in how we influence people and how we allow people to influence us. Notice the following, who you spend most of your time with has a tremendous impact and influence on the way you think, speak and live. Therefore you must endeavour to have around you people that are likeminded, that influence you towards blessing, that will build you up and lead you always towards faith. When you gather around people that have different convictions than yours, establish in your heart that you will influence them and will not allow them to influence you. This kind of stand in the long run will protect you and your family. I have known of people who had strong convictions and were solid in the faith, but began to allow ungodly influences to come into their lives and they did not see the danger and today because of the influence they allowed and followed, they are far away from the things of God and suffering for it.
Beloved brother and sister be an influencer today, upon those that are around you. Encourage, be positive, have a good attitude, build up people, speak good things that are of benefit to those that listen to you and let your conduct be aligned with the word of God, understanding that what you do has much more influence over people than what you say.
This week stand up to the challenge of being an influencer and be careful with those that influence you. In Jesus name you can do it. Amen!!!!!!
