Luke 24:49This week while I was meditating on the word of God the Lord dropped a thought into my spirit, he said the following
“The Church of today no longer wants to tarry but they want to hurry”.
I thought about that for a moment and realized how true it is, we want to hurry in and out of His presence, we want to hurry in and out of church, we want answers to our prayers to come in a hurry, we want change to come in a hurry, we want growth to come in a hurry etc. But the Bible shows us that there is always a process of waiting with patience and perseverance for what the Lord has for us. We live in what is called the technological age where every effort is made to make things go faster, where we can spend as little time as possible in waiting. We go up to a window and ask for a Big Mac, fries and a Coke and drive 5 metres to the next window and expect our food served within 2 minutes. We put a chicken into a microwave and cut down the time of cooking to more than half. When we go to the bank if we are not served within 1 minute we begin to get restless and frustrated. This is the age of everything done fast.
As believers we may think that this is the way that God does it all the time, but in the kingdom of God many times it is the total opposite; we are told to wait and persevere with patience for the blessings and promises that God has given to us. When we understand how God works we will not get frustrated when things do not happen overnight. There is a process that God has set into motion for your blessing to come to you, and many times it’s a process of tarry and not hurry.
Jesus, before He went to heaven told His disciples to not leave Jerusalem until they had been filled with the Holy Spirit, and He told them to TARRY until they received the promise. Notice the following, the word Tarry means: To wait, To continue, to persevere, to remain with expectation, to delay etc. They were not to hurry in and out but wait for the promise of the Father; 10 days latter they received the baptism with the Holy Spirit. Beloved brother and sister understand that if God has promised you something He will do it in your life, whether it is today tomorrow, next month or next year. Whether you are waiting for healing, financial miracle, a promotion, ministry, family restoration etc, our responsibility is to tarry until the answer comes.
The following promise is for you today, Galatians 6:9 says:
“And let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not”.
God bless you.
