John 8:32
There is a saying in the world that goes like this ”What you do not know won’t hurt you”, for the believers, however, that statement could not be further from the truth. For us faith people, the statement should be “What you do not know will hurt you”. Let me explain what I mean by this, using the Bible as the final authority for this thought. Hosea 4:6 says the following “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. The word destroyed in the Hebrew means: to be cut off from, to perish, etc. God is saying through His word, what will bring destruction and separate us from the source of our blessing is lack of knowledge. Knowledge is the word of God. God’s word, reveals to us His will and purpose for our lives.
His word brings illumination and uncovers truths to us that show us who we are in Christ, what is rightfully ours as believers, how the kingdom of God operates on this earth and more. God’s word is a covenant or we could say a contract, but if you and I do not know what is in the contract, then we do not know what has been freely given to us, therefore, ignorance of a truth destroys us and keeps us in the same place. One of the greatest tools in the hands of the devil is ignorance. If he can keep God’s people ignorant and unaware of the fine print in God’s contract , then he can keep God’s people cut off from the blessing.
John 8:32 says the following, “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”. Notice what this verse says, Jesus is saying that there is a way of being set free. Set free from what? From being ignorant of the truth, which would mean destruction, hurt and being cut off from God’s best for our lives. “Truth by itself will not set you free, It is the truth you know that will set you free”
Remember at the beginning of this devotional I stated “What you do not know will hurt you”.
The greatest day of deliverance for you and me is when a truth in God’s word is open up to us then we can live what we know. “You and I cannot live beyond or above the revelation that we know”. It is imperative and of vital importance that we read and study the word of God, thus being illuminated to God’s will, purpose and way for our lives.
God bless you.
