A Broad Place

Throughout God’s word we continually see Him multiplying, increasing, expanding, adding etc. It is interesting to clearly see how God abundantly blesses His people as they walk in obedience to Him.

Yet many of God’s people have accommodated themselves into a small and limited place of vision, influence, mindsets, spirituality, expectation, provision etc; yet knowing at the same time, as we evidently see in His word, that God has a broad place of blessing prepared for them to walk in and posses.

Verse 36 of Job 16 teaches us how God operates in removing us from the strait place. The word strait in the Hebrew means: narrow, a tight place, small, adversary, afflicted and so on. He wants us to move out of the strait place and into a broad place, the word broad means: large, not limited.

Now, how does God take us from the small and narrow place into a place of no limits and abundance in every area of our lives?. He does it through our ears being open to hearing His word for the situation that we find ourselves in. One word from God to an open ear that is hearing, can change your life forever.

Peter in Luke 5 found himself in a tight and small place after he had caught nothing on his all night fishing trip, then one word from Jesus comes to him, Jesus says “launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch”.  Peter had all the reasons in the world as to why he did not want to do that, but then he said the words that took him into a broad and large place, he said in verse 5 “nevertheless at your WORD I will do it”. The obedience and attention to that word from Jesus for his situation caused him to, in verse 6, catch a great multitude of fish (notice the word great multitude).

This was a broad place that changed Peter’s economic situation from small to broad.

How did this come about? A word from God heard and obeyed.

And that is how God works today.

Many of God’s people are missing out on God’s best because they do not hear his word with open ears.

I encourage you open up your ears to the word of God for your life, then obey it and watch how you are removed miraculously from the strait place to the broad place.
