Acts 2:42
Fellowship is a familiar word that is used a lot in our Christians circles and churches. Most of the time it is used in a way that loses it real biblical meaning.
In most cases the word fellowship is used to describe a gathering of people for coffee, a BBQ or even to a worship service. It is used in association with people coming together usually around food.
There is nothing wrong with calling these gatherings fellowship, these are important and needed in order to get to know people and one another better.
But that is not what true biblical fellowship is.
When we understand what true fellowship is and see how vital it is for the growth of the church, It will change the way we do church and will make us realize that we are part of what God wants to do and that He needs us to Fellowship.
This is one of the main characteristics of the church in the book of Acts, in chapter 2:42 it says “And they continued stedfastly in the Apostles doctrine and Fellowship”.
The word fellowship in the greek is the word “Koinonia” and this word means: to be associated with, in partnership, belonging to, a participator, to unite, to connect with.
The word goes far beyond a gathering and chatting. You can be having a coffee or a meal with someone but not be associated or connected with their vision or their way of thinking. True fellowship has to do with partnership and association concerning a cause and a purpose. When true fellowship is real in a church it creates a strong church that can advance the kingdom of God on this earth. Things can get done when we partner, associate and connect with the pastor, the message and the vision of our local church.
True fellowship is the missing link in so many churches, when people are not connected, and do not associate themselves with a church, then they end up doing their own thing, the result is that the church stagnates and does not advance because there is no true fellowship.
May this Gospel of Power Church be a place of true fellowship, I encourage you to partner with us, associate yourself and be connected with what God is doing and also with what He will be doing.
