2 Corinthians 4:18
The middle part of verse 18 says “for the things which are seen are temporal”, that word temporal can be translated the following way “for the things which are seen are SUBJECT TO CHANGE”. That is powerful.
The Apostle Paul is teaching in this verse how to live by faith and he starts out by saying, that we (faith people) look not at the things which are seen, that is those things that can be perceived by the sense realm, but we look at the things which are not seen. That refers to us looking through the eyes of faith, at the truths of God’s word and trust in the finality and authority of that word no matter what we see going on. These things, many times, are not seen by the natural eye but are there for us to believe in and take hold of by faith.
Why does the apostle tell us to not look at the seen, but to look at the unseen? The answer is in what I stated at the beginning of this devotion “the things which are seen are temporal” or they are subject to change and Gods word never changes.
You may be going through a rough time, a time of adversity and pressure, but I want you to know on the authority of God’s word, that all those things are subject to change at any moment or any day. We must align our faith to this truth, that those things you are going through, that are not in the word, they are subject to change any day now, it can change at any moment.
They have no word or faith foundation, they are founded on feelings, fear, emotions, the past etc, therefore it has no right to stop you from advancing in the kingdom of God.
If it’s not in the word, it is temporal. If it’s in the word wether you see it or not it never, never changes. The only way we can see this is through faith and faith alone.
Begin to believe it, begin to confess it, things are getting ready to change in your life and they are going to line up with the word of God. Amen.
