2 Corinthians 5:7The text for this devotional says the following “For we walk by FAITH not by sight”.
Romans 1:17 says “The just shall live by FAITH”. In these two verses the Apostle Paul is clearly telling us how we as believers are to walk and to live our lives. It is to be done by FAITH. We are to be faith people.
To not walk by faith is to walk by sight, that is to walk by what is temporary and on how we feel.
Now, how do we walk by faith? Well, we must find out where our source of faith comes from. So we must read Romans 10:17, this says “So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”.
The source of our faith is the revealed word of God. So to walk by faith, is to walk according to the word. We must be word people in order to be faith people. We must develop ourselves and be rooted in the word of God. Then the way we walk must line up to what the word has to say. When something is happening around us that is causing us to be moved by our feelings, we immediately find out what God has to say about it, in other words we go to our source of faith. Then we move according to the word. This is walking and living by faith. We agree with what the word says not what we see.
Why do people walk by sight? Because their information source is everything else but the word, people that walk and live by sight and by their feelings are in desperate need of getting into the word. What we put on our inside will come out of us and manifest in our walk and in our living.
Getting into the word on a daily basis must be a discipline that we are to have, also going to a word church is of the upmost importance. As we cultivate this life style and line up our life and confession with what the word says we will walk and live by faith and be the faith people that the word instructs us to be.
So lets walk by faith, not by sight.
