You and I are an important part of each and every church service that we attend. Our expectation, our praise and worship, the way we hear and respond to the word preached will determine what kind of a service you and I will experience.
Many times we can fall into the error of thinking that we just have to simply show up and that God will do the rest. We must continually understand that God responds to faith and expectation.
A few months back on a particular Sunday that I was praying for our night service, I was praying the following way:" Lord bless the service tonight, be in the service, we need you to move amongst us".
As I was praying this prayer, over and over again, I felt the Spirit stop me, and heard Him say to me that I was praying the wrong way and that I should not pray that way. And I asked Him how this was and He said the following, " I have already blessed the service, did I not tell you that where there are two or three gathered together in my name I am there. Each time you come together in my name I am there and the service is blessed, then He spoke this to my heart, what you need to pray is the following "Lord, that the people will come with expectation, that the people will praise and worship you in spirit and in truth, that the people will hear the word with anticipation". Amen
I thought to myself that what the Lord had given me was so true, powerful and Biblical. The Lord is always in our services, but the truth is that many people even though they are in churches in body they are in some other place spiritually.
You and I have the great privilege to experience the wonder working power of God, lets be expectant, lets be enthusiastic, lets praise and worship Him and watch Him move in our lives.
The service has already been blessed. Praise the Lord.
