Acknowledge Him

Proverbs 3:5-6

As believers we should continually be seeking God for His direction and guidance in every area of our lives, whether those decision are big or small, important or non important. It should be part of our daily living, we should be asking God to get involved in all our decision making.

I learnt this a long time ago, in fact I had just started dating Erika and we were looking to get married, and one day I came across the verse for this text and it jumped out of the pages and became a rhema for me and Erika. Ever since then we have endeavoured to acknowledge God and get him involved in every area and decisions of our lives, whether it is personal, family or the ministry.

We have founded our lives and ministry on this verse and God has been faithful. You can do the same and watch how God leads you.
The following are the steps to the promise:

Proverbs 3:5 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart”
The word trust means: Be confident in, secure; this word expresses the feeling of safety and security that is felt when one can rely on someone.
Then the verse says with all of your heart, notice that it says with ALL of your heart, not part of your heart, this shows the level of trust that you have. The word heart has to do with your feelings, your will and even your intellect.

Verse 5 goes on to say “ And lean not on your own understanding”. The word lean means: To support oneself, to rely on and to rest upon. We are told to not rely on our understanding, that is our knowledge, wisdom and discernment, but to trust and rely in Him.

The word goes on to say in verse 6, “In ALL your ways acknowledge Him”. Notice again how it says in ALL your ways, not in some ways. The word ways means: journey, path that you take, course of action. We are to acknowledge Him. To acknowledge means: take Him into account, get Him involved, do not ignore Him, ask Him what He wants you to do. We are to acknowledge Him above all else, above anybody else’s opinion.
Then once we have done these things we have the great promise that says “He shall (will) direct your path (plan)”.

To direct means: To make straight and even, to make right, pleasant and prosperous and to make smooth and to give clarity.

I encourage you to acknowledge Him in all your ways and He shall direct your path. I, along with my wife can testify that this is true.
