From Sunday 12th August, Gospel Of Power Sunday Service
Romans 12:1-2
Everything that we do starts with a thought, and every thought comes through one of our five senses our hearing, seeing, touching, smelling and speaking. We are constantly filling up our mind with knowledge which in turn will shape and mould our lives, attitudes, habits and character.
The more we hear and see something the greater the stronghold of that thought over our lives. For example, if I continually read and hear about depressing situations, and allow that to continually feed my mind after a while I will with out a doubt begin to feel depressed. We cannot neglect and take lightly the power of the mind and what knowledge we take into our minds.
Someone once said “garbage in, will sooner rather than later, result in garbage out”.
Therefore many people are bound by strongholds as a result of what has been years feeding the mind and what is needed for change is a mind detox, a changing of the way we do things.
The word of God says in the verse for this devotional, “be transformed bay the renewing of your mind”. It is powerful to think that we can transform our lives by renewing our minds.
The word transform means: To change the condition and place we are in, To turn from, to change completely the appearance and character of something. This transformation starts in the mind.
The word renewed means: To make new again, restore, a renewing or restoration which makes a person different than in the past, to renovate, this means to tear down and rebuild. We are to tear down thought strongholds in our minds and then rebuild our minds with thoughts that will transform us.
Now the question must be asked, How do we renew our minds and thus be transformed?
We do this through the word of God, we commence by aligning our thoughts with the word of God. We continually feed our minds the knowledge of the word of God. As we make this our lifestyle we will begin to see changes in our attitudes, character, habits, desires etc. We turn off those things we have been feeding our minds and we turn on the word of almighty God and transformation will come.
