Luke 8:11-15
The greatest threat to the devil in the life of the believer is that the word of God implanted in their hearts would develop and grow to its full potential thus producing mountain removing faith.
If the devil can cause pain in the believer he will do it by taking away the word that has been sown in their hearts, before it produces faith. The active and growing word of God in the life of the believer is dangerous to satan and his kingdom, and it is of great benefit to the believer.
As we read in this great parable in verse 12, the devil comes to take away the word. The word take in the Greek is “Airo” and means: to rise up and make disappear, take with violence, destroy, make to doubt. The evil one knows the potential of the word sown in our hearts so he comes quickly to take it and destroy it before it germinates and begins to produce faith in our lives.
The devil does not come to the life of the believer nor is he interested in taking away our joy, strength, peace, health etc, and in the life of the church our buildings, music, money, talents etc. He comes to take away the word with potential, the rhema word, that brings about faith that when activated will produce all these things that we need like joy, peace, health etc.
The word of God is the foundation, it is the root of our faith, this is why the devil is so interested that the word would not be preached in the church or that the believer would not read and study it.
So we must do what it says in verse 15, they are the ones who keep the word; to this group of people the devil also comes but they stand up strong and say no, no no you don’t and keep it and thus the word grows and faith grows and produces fruit to the glory of God. The word take in the Greek is “Katecho” and means: to posses, take with force and intensity, to hold down and to maintain in memory.
